Composer, saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, and writer of Sicilian origin, born in 1958. Founder and artistic director of the Cultural Bridge Music and Books label, he directs various musical groups, including Bob Salmieri, Bob Salmieri Bastarduna Quintet, Erodoto Project, Milagro Acustico, and Manosanta Hard Soul. He publishes under various pseudonyms, such as Joe Siciliano (solo piano or jazz trio), Kafiristan (oriental chillout), and Beato Angelico (solo piano).

He is one of the leading exponents of what can be defined as Mediterranean Jazz, often blending Eastern atmospheres and instruments with jazz. He has released records in America and Italy. He has published several novels and recently the Encyclopedia of Jazz Saxophonists.
